Book Reviews

Oh, that Henry Whiskers! He’s a worthy mouse, feisty, fun, and unforgettable. He zips through the Queen’s dollhouse, leaving us breathless. Readers will beg for more of his adventures!
Patrcia Reilly Giff, Award-Winning Children’s Book Author

The text flows well, making this selection ideal for either independent readers or for classroom read-alouds. VERDICT: Fast-paced and sure to appeal to young fans of animal adventure.
– H. Islam, Brooklyn Public Library for the School Library Journal

Henry Whiskers is a mouse to cheer for, love and admire! He is a good brother, a loyal friend and a true hero. You will want to be a part of this grand adventure and will look forward to all of his journeys yet to come. A fun page turning escapade to read and a great read aloud.
– Melissa Thorkilsen, Elm Street Books

Short, quickly paced chapters and plenty of twists, turns, and challenges keep the story moving briskly, and the simple, elegant narration and regal setting make the story feel of a kind with other classic mouse tales from children’s literature. Publisher’s Weekly

The Adventures of Henry Whiskers so quickly captures the attention and imagination of young readers that my third grade students begged for “one more chapter” from the day we started reading.
– Valerie Schirmer, 3rd Grade Teacher

The Adventures of Henry Whiskers is the first in a series of middle grade books published by Aladdin, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, newly released on January 3, 2017.

Unbeknownst to anyone at Windsor Castle, twenty-five generations of Whiskers have been living in its most famous exhibit: Queen Mary’s Dollhouse. Never meant for dolls or even children to play with, this miniature masterpiece comes complete with four floors, forty rooms, two working elevators, hot and cold running water and electricity. It’s even got toilets that flush, a garage filled with luxury cars, a grandfather clock that chimes and a library filled with leather-bound books. For a young, book-loving mouse named Henry Whiskers, it’s the perfect place to call home.

When the dollhouse undergoes unexpected repair work and Henry’s little sister disappears, he teams up with his best friend Jeremy and risks everything in a whisker-whipping race against time to rescue her. Along the way he will have to bend house rules, heist a car from the dollhouse fleet and cross forbidden boundaries into the murky world of Rat Alley. Before it’s over, Henry will discover unlikely friends in surprising places, redefine community and find the courage he never knew he had.

About the Author: Gigi Priebe is the mother of three, the founder of Stepping Stones, an award-winning children’s museum in Norwalk, CT and the author of The Adventures of Henry Whiskers, the first in her middle grade series. When she is not writing – or rewriting – she is a philanthropic advisor and community volunteer in Fairfield County, Connecticut where she lives with her husband, a cat named Tigger, a dog named Clover, and probably some mice.
