Scheduling and Planning Group Visits
We encourage reservations to be made at least three weeks in advance of the desired date by calling 203 899 0606, ext. 247. Visits are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reservations
Please make reservations at least four weeks in advance of your desired date by calling
203 899 0606, ext. 247.
We will only hold a reservation with a deposit or full payment. Purchase orders are accepted in lieu of deposits.
Please have the following information ready:
- Name of organization, contact name, phone number, fax number and address
- Grade and number of children and adults in your group
- Name of the program you wish to reserve
- Possible dates and time for your visit
- Special educational or physical needs of students
- Whether or not you plan to stay for lunch
- Whether or not you plan to visit the gift shop, Age of Reason at Stepping Stones
Please note that submission of a registration form does not guarantee a reservation. Stepping Stones will try to accommodate your first choice, but reservations are subject to availability and are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once your program has been scheduled, you will receive a confirmation letter and visit information.
Payment and Refund Policies
(For Discovery Tours, Self-guided Group Visits, Workshops and Scout Programs)
Non-refundable deposit of 50% due within two weeks of making a reservation.
Final payment due on or before the first day of the program.
Changes to program numbers must be made no later than 48 hours prior to visit.
Groups will be charged for all participants on the confirmation letter at the time of the visit.
Additional program participants will result in an additional fee due at check-in.
Deposit and Refund Policy

Non-refundable deposit of 50% due within two weeks of making a reservation.
Final program numbers and remaining balance due four weeks prior to event.
Traveling Adventures, After School Programs and Travel Trunk Rentals
Full payment is due within four weeks of making your reservation*.
*Travel Trunks - refundable security deposit is due at time of pick-up.
Cancellation/Changes/Refunds
Deposits are non-refundable.
Rescheduling
$50 fee will be applied if reservation is rescheduled less than two weeks prior to the scheduled visit.
Cancellation
80% refund will be issued if cancelled at least four weeks prior to the scheduled visit.
50% refund will be issued if cancelled less than four weeks prior to the scheduled visit.
Accessibility
Stepping Stones is ADA compliant and will work with your group to accommodate special needs. Discovery Tours are available in Spanish upon request. Should you require additional assistance, please call 203 899 0606, ext. 267.
Arrival
Bus parking is available in front of the museum. Out of courtesy to other groups, we start and end our programs on time. If you arrive late, we cannot guarantee a complete program. Please note that the museum does not have indoor facilities to accommodate groups that arrive before their scheduled arrival time.
When you arrive, please have one designated staff member check in at the Welcome Desk. Please be prepared with a final count of students and chaperones along with your final payment. Additional program participants will result in an additional fee due at check-in.
Lunch
Indoor lunch space must be reserved and is available on a first-come, first-served basis
for groups that add a workshop to their Discovery Tour. Weather permitting, other groups may enjoy a picnic lunch in our outdoor courtyard. The cafe is closed Mondays and Tuesday mornings and does not accommodate groups.
Gift Shop
Plan a visit to our gift shop where you may purchase Discovery Bags as a memento of
your museum visit.

Chaperones
For the safety of your children and to ensure a pleasant visit, the museum recommends one adult chaperone for every five children. Chaperones meeting this ratio will not be charged a fee. In order to provide the children with the most valuable educational experience, we ask that groups do not exceed this ratio. Groups exceeding this will be charged a fee for each additional chaperone.
